Post Pandemic Online Therapy

complex trauma therapist portland oregon jacksonville florida

We are hopefully nearing the Post Pandemic times. Some therapists and clients are wondering if they should return to the office for therapy. Will Post Pandemic Online Therapy be a thing?

My private practice never intended to be in an office, and I created my private practice for online counseling before COVID19 hit.

So while many therapists will probably be returning to their offices soon, I don’t have an office to return to because I never had one in the first place. But let me tell you a little bit about my reasoning.

First of all I love online therapy, and here is why:

My clients don’t have to leave the comfort of their own homes to make it to therapy on time. They can even meet with me during their lunch break for example. They can sit in their car (if they have good cell service) or wherever they feel comfortable. My clients don’t have to worry about finding parking or paying for parking.

My clients also don’t have to worry about running into someone in the waiting room or on their way to see their therapist. Online therapy gives them the confidentiality and privacy many of my clients are seeking.

Many people feel way more comfortable doing therapy in the comfort of their own home. They don’t want to worry about having to leave the therapist’s office with puffy eyes for example. For some people it’s easier to be more vulnerable with their therapist and go deeper in therapy when they are in the safety of their own home.

There are ways to ensure that an online session goes smoothly. Check out this blogpost I wrote when the pandemic started, giving you 9 tips to improve your online therapy experience.

If you are unsure if online therapy works for you, you can always schedule a free consultation. Most therapists offer a 15 minute free consultation to see if you are a good fit.
